The letter was pertaining to our daughter, Jawana Galloway, who is entering the 9th grade in the Fall at Birmingham Middle School. We also have a son, Danté Galloway who will be a senior there. Our daughter is in all honors classes and on the honor roll -- our son is also on the honor roll but for some reason we never received anything from you on his behalf. I have gone through the cite and am excited about becoming a part of this program and in utilizing whatever assistance you can give us with both of our children. Jawana received a camp scholarship this year and is currently at the Paintrock Camp until Aug. 31st which means she will not be here for the Aug. 24th admissions day - we will, however, plan to attend with our son to obtain all of the necessary information. Thanks again and we look forward to working with you and learning all that we can about the YBS's program. `Sherrie writes on Tuesday, 16-Jul-02 11:30:33 EDT My 13 year old son will be starting the 9th grade at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in September. My name is Shelli Williams. I am a sophomore at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, CA. I attend a predominately white school, where there are few black students. I am involved in many extracurricular activities, but there aren't many clubs at my school, let alone a black one. I'm currently trying to start a Black STudent Union with the few black students we have, but I think having a Young Black Scholars CLub at our school is even better. If there is any way you can assist me with information, it would be greatly appreciated.
