Five students of the Young Black Scholars (YBS) program, (an educational activity of the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles), participated in the 100 Black Men of America’s National African American Challenge Bowl Competition held in San Francisco on June 10.
In its fifteenth year, the competition is designed to test the knowledge of students in African and African American History, from the 15th Dynasty to modern times.
This was the third consecutive victory for 100 BMLA’s Junior Division – a first for the annual competition. They have won five total. The Senior Division has won six championships.
Young Black Scholars is a comprehensive college preparatory program for African American and other minority high school students. The program brings together some of the best and brightest future leaders to participate in more than 40 workshops, programs, seminars, and conferences throughout the academic school year.
