The opportunity of a lifetime is at your fingertips.

We have helped over 21,000 students get into college since 1986, and we would love to help you too. Before entering the program, students must meet a few basic criteria:

  • Entering grades 9 through 12 in the Fall.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Need preparation for college admissions and success.

YBS offers a wide range of program features including:

  • Saturday college preparation workshops.
  • Academic advising.
  • SAT/PSAT test preparation.
  • Peer networking.
  • Direct access to college recruiters, admissions, and financial aid officers.
  • Awards for achievement.

Please see our Student Development page to learn more about our program and activities.

The YBS application process is simple and straightforward.

Complete and sign the New Enrollment Application (Print).
Attach Middle School and High School transcripts (if the applicant is entering 9th grade, only Middle School transcripts are required).
The program fee is $300 per year per student (or $570 per year for a family with two students).
Send completed application packet and payment to the YBS office (9000 Overland Avenue, Culver City, Ca, 90230).

Existing scholars who are graduating seniors have access to limited scholarships supported by the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles (the organization that founded Young Black Scholars). If you are a graduating senior and currently enrolled in Young Black Scholars, contact us to learn more about this opportunity.
